Over-singing and bad technique are the main culprits for vocal damage in modern music. Learn to use the microphone for volume and ask your fellow musicians to TURN DOWN if they can’t hear you or you can’t hear yourself – DON’T SING LOUDER.
Remember – if you feel like you are straining – you are.
TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS: Swallowing and laughter naturally reset the larynx when any strain or tension is felt. You can easily do both of these between songs or phrases when performing if you feel you need to.
My expectations were average because other coaches haven’t got the best out of me…I now know what’s been going wrong and have seen a lot of improvement…
